A weekend in Newburyport

This summer was so crazy for Anejo, she got a new website, is going to be in a movie, and did as many charters as possible in between, there was not too much time for the Captain and I to have many destination sails, which is something we both like doing. A few weekends ago we went to Newburyport as one of our last weekends away on the boat till next summer.

Newburyport is not very far, but it seems far since we had to motor through the Annisquam, then sail in the bay, then motor through the Merrimack River to get to our slip for the weekend.

As I said we went from the Annisquam to Ipswich Bay to the Merrimack River. The hardest part of this trip is the Merrimack River, yes the Annisquam is not easy either but that is where Anejo moors, and we travel the Annisquam a lot. The Merrimack on the other hand, gets "bubbly" at this mouth, with an aft sea pushing us and surfing us right into the river

When we arrived to the town docks, we had our usual end spot, not too far from the facilities, which are very nice, and not too far from the gangway. The one funny thing about this spot is there were so many people on the harbor walk taking pictures of themselves and thier families in front of our boat.

Newburyport is a lovely place to visit, there are shops and restaurants galore, the big question is where to stop and eat and shop at. We did a little research on Yelp and found Carmine's a new Italian Resturant on State Street to have dinner, and it did not disappoint. This should be a stop for everyone who enjoys a good Italian Resturant. We also had dinner our second night at Agave's on State Street and it too was delicious Mexican.

Every year we make a trip up to Newburyport and get a change of scenery and experience a different harbor. Hopefully next year we will have more weekends to visit more places. I think I might start making my list now.
