39th Schoonerfest

39th Schoonerfest in Gloucester

If you have read our blog before you know I love the schooners and love schoonerfest weekend even more. Last weekend was The 39th Schoonerfest at Maritime Gloucester and all over downtown Gloucester.

This year we did not have as many boats as we have had in the past. Mainly because there was a mini event this summer that brought Schooner Columbia and The Pride of Baltimore 2 to Gloucester.

Nonetheless, it was still wonderful to have all our favorites come to visit from Schooner Tyrone, Schooner Redbird, and Schooner Ernestina Morrissey.

The weekend is action-packed in Gloucester. It starts with the meeting the fleet night on Thursday, Block party on Friday night on Main Street, Heritage Days on Saturday, and culminates at the Parade of Sails and Mayor’s Cup Race on Sunday.

We had a wonderful day sailing on with the parade and watching the race. This was the first year in a very long time that I didn’t take any photos while on the water, I just enjoyed myself and was in the moment.

These are photos of all the schooners I saw from land.

Now we wait another year for Scoonerfest to happen again!!!
